Trump Administration Defends EPA Climate Rule for Power Plants

The EPA is pushing back on claims that its Affordable Clean Energy rule for greenhouse gas emissions from power plants falls short of legal requirements.

Trump administration lawyers attempted to fend off challenges from environmental groups, states, and other critics in a brief filed Tuesday at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.

“EPA’s defined span of authority does not vary with the gravity of the environmental problem EPA is confronting, Petitioners’ preferred policy approach, or a perceived failure by Congress to act,” the agency told the court.
