Trench Risks Bring $149,000 Fine for Florida Construction Firm

A Florida construction company faces $148,845 in fines for alleged trench-safety hazards during a gas pipeline installation, according to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

R.A.W. Construction LLC, an underground utility construction company based in Tallahassee, Fla., was cited for two repeat and five serious violations at a work site in Loganville, Ga.

The company was previously cited for similar safety violations in 2013. The latest inspection came as part of OSHA’s national focus on trench and excavation safety, the agency said.
