Texas Lawmakers Advance Bills Responding to Winter Storm (1)

Legislation in Texas advanced Monday targeting gas utilities and identifying critical electricity infrastructure, but stopped short of mandating winterization of the state’s power grid in the wake of this year’s massive deep freeze.

The bills will get a pro forma third reading and vote before final passage and then head to the state Senate, which has been developing its own response to Winter Storm Uri that left millions without power for days.
