Texas Agency’s Air Permits Issued to Natural Gas Company Upheld

Claims by fishermen and others who alleged harm due to a Texas agency’s award of air quality permits to natural gas company Rio Grande LNG are too generalized, and should be dismissed for lack of standing, the Fifth Circuit ruled Friday.

Shrimpers and Fishermen of the RGV and Vecinos Para el Bienestar de la Comunidad Costera sued after the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality rejected their requests for either a contested-case hearing on the Rio Grande’s application for the permits or to alternatively deny the permits.
