Tax Extenders Bill Could Revive Lapsed Renewable Energy Credits

The Senate Finance Committee is preparing to release a tax extenders package that could include provisions to prolong renewable energy and other tax breaks, according to four congressional aides with knowledge of the legislation.

The extenders package is still in the works, but could be released as soon as this week, according to the aides, who asked to remain anonymous because the legislation isn’t yet finalized. Senators are looking to pass it this year or early next year, prior to the 2018 filing season so that some provisions that expired for the 2017 tax year wouldn’t lapse.
