Sunoco to Face $155 Million Damages Award Pending SCOTUS Review

Sunoco Inc. must face a $155 million damages award to a class of well owners while it awaits the US Supreme Court’s decision on whether to consider a dispute over unpaid interest on late payments for crude oil, Justice Neil M. Gorsuch ruled Thursday.

Sunoco Inc. and Sunoco Partners Marketing & Terminals LP sought emergency relief Aug. 29, arguing that there’s no “realistic prospect that it could recover” the funds once it was distributed to the more than “53,000 class members.”
