Sue Bee Maker Faces Suit Over Weedkiller Residue in ‘Pure’ Honey

A Sue Bee Honey consumer may proceed with proposed class claims under New York consumer protection laws alleging “pure” label claims are deceptive because the finished honey contains traces of the weedkiller glyphosate, a federal court in the state said.

Jason Scholder alleges the Sioux Honey Association Cooperative targeted consumers like him, who seek to avoid chemicals such as glyphosate, and who wouldn’t consider a product containing synthetic substances or chemicals to be “pure” or “100% pure.”
