Study Favors Expanding California’s Shasta Reservoir

The Bureau of Reclamation released a feasibility report and environmental study that painted a positive economic and environmental picture for a project to increase the water reservoir at Shasta Dam in California.

The July 29 Shasta Lake Water Resources Investigation said the project option with the greatest net benefits, including environmental benefits, was to raise the dam height 18.5 feet so that the reservoir could store an additional 634,000 acre-feet of water at a construction cost of $1.265 billion.
