Staples Seeks to Reduce or Eliminate PFAS, Other Chemicals

Staples announced a chemicals policy Oct. 31 describing its goal of reducing or eliminating 77 chemicals or groups of chemicals, including PFAS.

The office products retailer said it will work with its suppliers to identify and use safer chemicals in products such as electronics, furniture, textiles, receipt paper, and plastic office supplies when feasible.

“We want to know which products contain any of the chemicals and understand what suppliers are doing to try and move to safer alternatives,” said Jake Swenson, Staples’ director of sustainability, in an email.
