Spotted Owl Lawsuit to Stay in Northern California Federal Court

The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service isn’t entitled to a change of venue in a lawsuit challenging its decision to deny the California spotted owl protection as an endangered or threatened species, a federal court in California said.

Environmental groups Sierra Forest Legacy, Defenders of Wildlife, and Center for Biological Diversity sued to contest FWS’s 2019 finding that listing the California spotted owl as endangered or threatened under the Endangered Species Act wasn’t warranted.
