Spire STL Denied Appeals Court Stay of Pipeline Review Mandate

Spire STL Pipeline saw another loss Friday after the D.C. Circuit denied its request to put on hold the court’s mandate vacating the project’s original certificate from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

Spire faced the potential shutdown of its pipeline after the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit struck down FERC’s approval of the project. The agency ignored evidence of self-dealing when it issued its certification, the court said in June. FERC also failed to seriously weigh the need for the project, the court said.
