Some Uses of Common Solvent May Change Following EPA Evaluation

Some companies that make or distribute a common solvent say several uses will likely be impacted due to the EPA’s preliminary conclusion of the chemical’s potential undue risks to workers.

After a draft assessment from the Environmental Protection Agency found 1-bromopropane may pose an unreasonable risk, some uses of the solvent will have to be changed to reduce those risks, Bob Miller, senior director of global product stewardship at the Albemarle Corp., which produces the solvent, told Bloomberg Environment.
