Senate Panel Approves Biden Nominee Prieto for EPA’s Top Lawyer

The Biden administration’s pick to become the EPA’s top lawyer cleared a Senate panel on Wednesday, moving the nomination to the Senate floor.

The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee approved Jeffrey Prieto by a 12-8 vote.

If confirmed as Environmental Protection Agency general counsel, Prieto would become the agency’s chief legal adviser, defending new regulations in court, helping shape policy decisions, providing legal support for enforcement actions, and weighing in on permits.
