The Senate could add a package of energy tax break extensions to the stopgap funding bill that Congress needs to pass this week to avert a shutdown, according to congressional aides familiar with the discussions.
The House version of the continuing resolution (H.R. 1892) includes a tax title, making it easier for the Senate to tack on tax provisions. The House passed the CR by a vote of 245-182 on Feb. 6. The Senate will likely offer its version of the funding bill late Feb. 6 or on Feb. 7, which could include the extenders package.
