An amendment that would allow the Defense Department to recover “forever chemical” cleanup costs from chemical companies is among hundreds of provisions that senators would like to add to a defense bill.
Sens. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.), a member of the Armed Services Committee, and Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) are hoping the Senate will vote this week on whether to add an amendment addressing per- and polyfluoroalky substances (PFAS) to the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021 (S.4049), Blumenthal told reporters at a Tuesday news conference.
