Senate Confirms Democratic, GOP Energy Regulator Nominees

The Senate by voice vote Monday approved President Donald Trump’s picks of Allison Clements and Mark Christie for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

The energy regulator now has a full five-member roster, with three Republicans and two Democrats.

The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee advanced Clements and Christie on a voice vote earlier this month. At that time, Republican Sens. John Barrasso (Wyo.), Steve Daines (Mont.), John Hoeven (N.D.), Cindy Hyde-Smith (Miss.), and Mike Lee (Utah) were recorded as opposing Clements, the Democratic nominee. Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii) went on the record opposing Christie, the Republican.
