Seattle’s City Council tweaked, then unanimously passed, a Green New Deal resolution Aug. 12—and the county that encompasses the city may now follow suit.
King County Council Member Larry Gossett told the council at a public hearing before its vote he planned to introduce similar legislation for the county.
The City Council’s resolution calls for eliminating greenhouse gases in the city by 2030 and to make the transition in a way that benefits communities “most impacted by economic, racial, and environmental injustice.”
