Sales of Dow Pesticide to Remain Steady after EPA Denies Ban: Analyst

The EPA’s refusal to clamp down on a controversial insecticide last month could put the brakes on a steady decline in its use, according to a market analyst.

Sales of Dow Chemical Co.'s insect-killing chlorpyrifos and similar chemicals have tumbled in the last decade. Demand for organophosphates—chlorpyrifos is the most common insecticide of that class—is about half of what it was a decade ago, according to data published by the Freedonia Group, a market research firm.
