Results of EPA’s Mexican Border Efforts Unclear: Watchdog (1)

The EPA needs clearer documentation of its environmental protection efforts along the Mexican border, the agency’s internal watchdog said.

The Environmental Protection Agency’s Border 2020 Program seeks to reduce air pollution, improve access to clean and safe water, promote materials management and waste management, enhance joint preparedness for environmental response, and improve compliance assurance and environmental stewardship along the roughly 2,000-mile U.S.-Mexico border.

The public can’t tell whether the EPA is hitting those targets, the EPA’s Office of Inspector General said in a report released Tuesday.
