Pressure Mounts for EU Carbon Emissions Tax on Airline Sector

European Union governments should tax the airline sector in the wake of reports citing rising carbon emissions from EU airlines, including one predicting growth of 16 percent over the next 20 years.

Advocacy group Transport & Environment insisted April 3 that efforts led by the Netherlands and Belgium in favor of a EU kerosene taxes on aviation fuel are vital to meet EU climate change targets under the Paris Agreement.
