Power Plant Mercury Pollution to Keep Falling if EPA Keeps Rules: Report

Toxic mercury pollution from power plants will continue to drop, although at a much slower pace than it has for the past seven years, if the EPA chooses to keep the air pollution standards it set in 2012, according to a report from the left-leaning Center for American Progress.

Using Environmental Protection Agency data, the center estimated that mercury pollution from power plants fell 81.7 percent between 2011 and 2017, owing chiefly to the federal standards on toxic pollution from power plants.
