PG&E Can’t Avoid Lawsuit Over San Francisco Contamination (1)

Pacific Gas & Electric Co. must face a hazardous waste claim in connection with its former manufactured gas plant in San Francisco, a California federal court said in partially denying the company’s motions to dismiss.

California resident Dan Clarke sued PG&E and PG&E Corp. over alleged contamination linked to the plant located along the city’s northern waterfront. Clark claims pollutants from the site are traveling into the San Francisco Bay, endangering human and marine life.

The company should be forced to remediate the site under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, according to the lawsuit. PG&E argued that Clarke failed...
