PFAS Used by Many Industries Needs Controls, Scientists Say (1)

A subset of so-called forever chemicals, used to make thousands of industrial and consumer products, can’t be deemed “low-concern” despite chemical manufacturers’ arguments, a group of international scientists said in a paper released Tuesday.

The study, published in Environmental Science & Technology, could influence policy discussions European and U.S. regulators have about how to regulate per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS, and a subset of those chemicals called fluoropolymers.
