PFAS Found in Half of Kentucky Public Water Systems Tested (1)

Evidence of fluorinated chemical pollution was found in 41 of 81 water treatment plants tested in Kentucky, but regulators say the small levels of the chemicals are a good sign for the state’s water.

Survey data of half of Kentucky’s public drinking water sources released Nov. 20 found the per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) were prevalent across the state drinking water supply in low amounts. The four-month survey tested for eight substances, targeting areas of industrial activity that regulators believed were the most at risk for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) exposure.
