PFAS Class Action Would Be Largest in Australian History (1)

A new class action seeking compensation for potentially tens of thousands of people affected by contamination with “forever chemicals” has been touted as the largest in Australian history.

Shine Lawyers, an Australian law firm, said it will represent plaintiffs in eight communities near military bases across the country to seek compensation from the federal government for contamination with per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) reducing their property values.

The law firm says the “open class action” means everyone in the affected communities meeting certain criteria will be automatically covered by the legal action unless they choose to opt out....
