New limits on pesticide use near critical habitat for endangered species are needed from agencies other than the Environmental Protection Agency, environmental advocates said in a petition seeking new standards.
The Center for Biological Diversity filed the petition on Jan. 7 and is calling for the National Marine Fisheries Service and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to exercise their authority under the Endangered Species Act to protect wildlife, including whooping cranes and Puget Sound orcas.
