PepsiCo Inc., Unilever and other retail product manufacturers will shoulder the full cost of curbside recycling in Canada’s largest province after a review found widespread support for the shift.
Ontario will gradually move responsibility for its 240 Blue Box programs from municipalities to companies between 2023 and 2025, a transition that will save cities between C$125 million to C$175 million ($94 million to $131 million) each year, the Environment, Conservation and Parks Ministry announced Aug. 15.
