Pentagon Threatened With Suit Over Disposal of PFAS-Laden Foam

Environment groups warned the Pentagon they could sue if it doesn’t follow the guidelines set out in a recently enacted defense authorization bill for disposing of firefighting foam containing “forever chemicals.”

A coalition led by the nonprofit legal firm Earthjustice notified the Defense Department on Friday that it is violating the National Defense Authorization Act, which spelled out guidelines for safely incinerating used firefighting foam containing per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS.
