Pelosi Formally Taps Florida Democrat to Head New Climate Panel

Rep. Kathy Castor (D-Fla.) has been tapped by Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to head a select House committee that will focus on climate change.

Castor is a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, which is likely to retain primary jurisdiction in moving any climate legislation in the House in 2019.

The new climate panel, to be called the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis, resurrects a select committee Pelosi launched in 2006 that Republicans abolished when they took control of the House in 2011.
