Orsted Wins Approval on First Connecticut Offshore Wind Contract

Orsted A/S, the world’s largest offshore wind developer, will proceed with the first ocean-based project to deliver power to Connecticut after regulators approved a contract with state utilities.

Revolution Wind, a proposed 600-megawatt installation, will sell 200 megawatts of energy to Eversource Energy and United Illuminating, a unit of Avangrid Inc., under a 20-year agreement, Orsted said in a statement Dec. 19. Terms weren’t disclosed. The remaining power will go to Rhode Island.
