EPA Lacks Follow-Through on Fixing Problems, Its Watchdog Says

Nearly one-third of the EPA internal watchdog’s recommendations haven’t been implemented, even though the agency certified that they were, according to a Monday report from the Office of Inspector General.

Those shortcomings limit the inspector general’s trust that the Environmental Protection Agency’s assertions are reliable, “and may give the public and Congress the wrong impression” about the agency’s progress, the report found.

Overall, the inspector general found that 15 out of 48 recommendations issued in seven reports, spanning 2011 to 2020, weren’t completed.
