Ohio Supreme Court Takes Up $900 Million Nuclear Subsidies Suit

The Ohio Supreme Court will decide whether opponents of a $900 million FirstEnergy Solutions Corp. nuclear subsidy will get an extra 38 days to collect signatures for a repeal referendum.

The state’s high court on Dec. 24 agreed to decide a series of questions about whether challengers to the six-year annual $150 million ratepayer subsidy law should get more than 90 days to collect signatures. The group says they should get credit for the time they spent honing the referendum question after the Ohio attorney general said it didn’t meet state election law rules.
