Ohio Lawmakers Send $2B Lake Erie Phosphorus Rule Back to Agency

Ohio legislators sent Ohio Department of Agriculture regulations on farm phosphorus runoff back to the drawing board, seemingly ending Gov. John Kasich’s (R) drive to regulate farm nutrients.

The Dec. 10 Joint Committee on Agency Rule Review vote is a big win for roughly 7,000 farmers who were facing likely mandatory nutrient plans and strict limits on fertilizer for nearly 2 million acres of northern Ohio farmland.
