Offshore Wind Farm Must Mitigate Marine Life Harms, Feds Say

The nation’s second offshore wind project, planned for the Massachusetts coast, could disturb commercial fisheries, endangered whales, and sea turtles during construction and operation, but protective measures are available, according to a Dec. 7 federal report.

Vineyard Wind LLC, owned by Avangrid Inc., and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners won a contract in the spring from Massachusetts to build a $2 billion Vineyard Wind project with 80 to 100 turbines 15 miles off the island of Martha’s Vineyard.
