Norway’s Wealth Fund Targets Reductions in Methane Emissions

Norway’s wealth fund is now taking aim at methane emissions.

The $1 trillion fund will be demanding that companies have “a strategy for the transition to a low-emission energy system and a framework to monitor and report on emissions,” according to a statement from Norges Bank Investment Management.

As part of its monitoring, the fund said it will support a shareholder resolution asking for a report from Kinder Morgan Inc. on its actions and plans to measure, mitigate, disclose, and set reduction targets for methane emissions from all operations, including storage and transportation.
