Implementation of New York state’s aggressive climate action plan could be delayed because of its link to a less-publicized environmental justice bill that Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) hasn’t signed yet.
Cuomo on July 18 signed the most aggressive clean-energy targets in the U.S., codifying the state’s goal of getting all its electricity from emission-free sources by 2040 and an 85 percent reduction in economy-wide emissions from 1990 levels by 2050.
