Hotels in New York State would no longer be able to distribute small single-use plastic shampoo and lotion bottles to guests starting in 2024, under a bill headed to Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s desk.
The state Senate on Monday passed a measure (S.543/A.5082) that would prohibit hotels from giving out non-reusable plastic bottles with a capacity of less than 12 ounces containing personal care products such as moisturizers and cleansers. The Senate passed the bill in a 47–15 vote.
The Assembly passed the measure 113–37 on April 20. Both chambers are controlled by Democrats.
