New Orleans Residents’ Landfill Cleanup Request Tossed

New Orleans residents’ request for environmental testing and cleanup at a Superfund site where homes were built on a landfill was dismissed, after a federal court said their suit was barred due to a consent decree.

Judge Sarah S. Vance, of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, granted the city’s motion to dismiss the case Thursday for residents’ failure to state a claim.
