New Mexico PFAS Case Against Air Force Sent to Mass Proceeding

New Mexico must pursue water pollution claims against the Air Force in a mass proceeding in South Carolina after federal judges denied the state’s bid to litigate the case on its own turf.

The Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation on Tuesday ruled that New Mexico’s case—which alleges contamination from per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances used in firefighting foam at two Air Forces bases—belongs with hundreds of other cases bundled together in the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina.
