New Jersey Seeks Money for Contaminated Site Cleanups (1)

More than 20 companies and property owners should pay to clean up contaminated sites across New Jersey, the state said in a series of lawsuits filed Aug. 1.

New Jersey announced six lawsuits, with three of them seeking natural resource damage payments to fund the cleanups. It is the first time the state has taken that step since 2008, the Department of Environmental Protection confirmed Aug. 1.
