New EPA Plan to Assess Risks of Hazardous Chemicals’ Neighbors

The EPA on Friday released its proposed approach to deciding whether communities near factories, landfills, and other potentially hazardous places face too much risk from chemical exposure.

The Environmental Protection Agency’s strategy would examine the airborne risks people face when they live 10,000 meters or less from a facility releasing a chemical in commerce that the agency is examining under the Toxic Substances Control Act.
