Need for Oil Cash Spending Diet to Be Norway Election Issue

Scaling back the record oil cash spending that has kept Norway’s economy afloat during the past two years will be the biggest challenge for the next government, according the leader of the largest opposition party.

“The government itself points out that this level of oil spending can’t continue,” Jonas Gahr Store, the leader of Norway’s Labor Party, said in an interview in Oslo Dec. 13. “It will be a major challenge for the next government to land this in a responsible way.”
