Cuomo Trumpets 63 Percent Growth in N.Y. Electric Vehicle Sales

New York State’s electric vehicle programs are starting to pay off, with vehicle sales up 63 percent to more than 16,000 in 2018, Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) announced April 23.

The number of electric vehicles on the road increased from 24,551 in 2017 to 36,854 in 2018, according to state data, which includes plug-in hybrids and battery electric vehicles. The increases can help New York meet Cuomo’s pledge to cut carbon emissions by 40 percent by 2030.
