Mustangs Should Be Returned After Sterilization Plan Nixed: Suit

The long term stability of wild horse herds in eastern Oregon has been compromised by a recent government decision to not return 779 mustangs, a new suit alleges.

The horses were removed as part of a now-defunct sterilization plan carried out by the Bureau of Land Management, the agency tasked with overseeing wild horses and burros in the U.S., Friends of Animals says in its June 5 complaint. That plan was partly blocked in federal court when an administrative judge vacated the plan permit.
