Murkowski Sees ‘Pretty Slim’ Hopes for Minerals Bill This Year

Congressional action on a comprehensive critical minerals bill will almost certainly be pushed into next year given other issues—including House Democrats’ impeachment inquiry—that have elbowed energy measures to the sidelines, the chairman of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee said Nov. 13.

“I don’t mean to be flip about it, but the chance of legislation like we’re talking about passing this year is in the pretty slim category,” Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) said of the Senate bill, meant to boost U.S. competitiveness in minerals mining.
