Environmental groups fresh off a legal victory resulting in the cancellation of oil and gas leases in Montana seek to overturn the government’s approval of additional leases in the state and North Dakota, according to a lawsuit filed in a Montana federal court.
The lawsuit filed by WildEarth Guardians, Sierra Club, Montana Environmental Information Center, and two other groups challenges the Bureau of Land Management’s alleged failure to study the impacts of five oil and gas lease sales on 58,297 acres of public lands.
