Mississippi Cities Appeal Over Tossed Flooding Review Claims

Mississippi cities, counties, and business groups want the Fifth Circuit to revive some claims in their lawsuit seeking more environmental review of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ flood control measures in the state.

The Army Corps operates the Bonnet Carré Spillway, which is designed to prevent flooding in New Orleans. However, Mississippi River water released through the spillway decreases salinity levels in the Mississippi Sound and harms oysters.
