Enbridge Fight Shifts to State Court as Michigan Seeks Edge (1)

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer dismissed her federal case against Enbridge Inc. on Monday to gain home-court advantage in litigation over the Line 5 pipeline that runs under two great lakes.

Whitmer (D) lost her bid earlier this month with the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan to keep her lawsuit in state court. So Whitmer said the state will now focus all of its energy on a 2019 lawsuit filed by Attorney General Dana Nessel seeking to shut down the mixed oil and gas pipeline.
