Methylene Chloride Alternatives for Paint Stripper Analyzed

Nine chemicals are possible alternatives to methylene chloride’s use in paint strippers, according to an alternatives analysis released Oct. 27 by a business and environmental groups organization called BizNGO.

The group prepared the alternatives analysis in light of California’s Safer Consumer Products Regulations 2014 announcement that methylene chloride’s use as a solvent in paint/varnish strippers was one of three product-chemical combinations proposed for possible regulation 29 RKPG 34, 4/30/15, 75 DEN A-4, 4/20/15, 39 CRR 456, 4/20/15, 75 State Environment Daily, 4/20/15, 75 DER A-13, 4/20/15, 43 PSLR 546, 4/27/15.
