Maui to File Climate Case Against Fossil Fuel Producers

Maui County is set to become the latest local government to take fossil fuel companies to court over the impacts of climate change.

Mayor Michael Victorino on Oct. 29 announced that the Hawaii locality had given formal notice that it plans to file suit in state court.

“We in Maui County believe that fossil fuel is causing a lot of the climate change that’s occurring around us, and that they need to be held accountable,” he said in a press conference.
